Handoff VSCode v0.11 — See Your Parallel AI Agents at a Glance

handoff-mcp v0.34–0.35 lets multiple AI agents work in parallel across git worktrees. This release brings that picture into VSCode: who owns what, how far along each worktree is, and whether merging is safe.

Handoff VSCode extension v0.11 is out. This release makes parallel AI agent work visible from within your editor.

The Plumbing Was There, the View Wasn't

handoff-mcp v0.34–0.35 introduced multi-worktree shared storage and lease-based task locking, so multiple AI agents can work on the same project without stepping on each other. The server-side coordination was solid — but as a human, you had no quick way to see which agent was doing what, how far along each worktree was, or whether a merge back to main would be clean.

Dashboard: The Full Picture

The dashboard now shows the state of every parallel agent in one place:

  • Active agents and the tasks each one holds
  • Lease timers — lock status per task and time remaining before expiry
  • Per-worktree progress — what's done and what's left in each worktree
  • Merge status against main — merged, unmerged, or conflict risk, with a suggested merge order
  • Session placement — which session is running in which worktree

Three or four agents running at once? Open the dashboard; the overview is right there.

Worktree Filter in the Task Explorer

The Task Explorer now has a worktree filter, so you can focus on one worktree instead of seeing every task across all of them.

Sessions display their scope — primary, worktree, or ephemeral — making it clear which session is the main line of work and which is temporary. Tasks show their lock state and lease deadline, so "someone else is working on this" is immediately obvious.

Session-Loop Progress

When automated session loops are running, you can now track their progress per worktree: which loops are in the implementation phase, which are waiting on review, and which have finished.

What Changed

  • Multi-worktree overview — agents, claims, leases, and merge status on the dashboard
  • Worktree filter — narrow the Task Explorer to a single worktree
  • Session scope display — primary / worktree / ephemeral labels
  • Task lock display — claim status and lease deadline on each task
  • Session-loop progress — per-worktree visibility of automated dev loops
